South Cobb Construction Site
The South Cobb Construction Site is located next to the Influent Pump Station site along Lee industrial road. This site is for a construction shaft to allow removal of the main Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). A smaller tunnel will be driven from here to pick up flows from the Nickajack Creek area. This shaft will take these flows and bring them to the Influent Pump Station, where they will be pumped into the headworks of the South Cobb Water Reclamation Facility.

 South Cobb Shaft
South Cobb Construction Site
The South Cobb Shaft is 44 feet in diameter, and is partially excavated through soil. Currently, it is at an elevation to allow a subcontractor to install an 48" diameter odor control pipe which will connect to the odor control facility at the Influent Pump Station.

Just as the shaft was down to the hard rock, a small tunnel boring unit was used to excavate a small tunnel for an odor control pipe. This pipe will be used to remove odors and gasses from the completed tunnel.
