 Sweetwater Shaft Site
Sweetwater Construction Shaft
The Sweetwater Construction Shaft is 280 feet deep, and 40 feet in finished diameter. Initially, it was sunk through weathered rock by excavating with a trackhoe, but transitioned to hard rock and has to be blasted to advance it.
At the bottom of this shaft, the Starter and Tail tunnels were excavated to make room to assemble the Tunnel Boring Machine.
